Progress on new piece, Day II

(Sorry about the horrible formatting on this post.  I tried to fix whatever Google is doing to it, but finally am giving up  - it won!  Hope you can enjoy it anyway!)

I finally got into the studio around 12:30 today.  I didn't feel driven to work in there today and wasn't very focused while I was painting.  I listened to podcasts on my iPod - always a sign I'm less focused - and took breaks, but, still, I made some progress.  Here are the pics:

1.  1:49 PM First thing I did today was start applying paint to her legs.  I kept getting quite frustrated and finally realized I didn't have  the right colors mixed up, so I took some time to create a new palette.  Then I could work with greater ease.  I was also using a large brush out of hogshair  and needed to switch to smaller ones that held the paint better, like sables.

2. 3:22 PM - After a little snack and after mixing paint, I applied the better color to her thigh and refined the paint on her knee, let and foot.  Tricky passages!

3. 4:22 -I was having a heck of a hard time with her foot so I finally went in the house and printed out a larger picture of it so I could see what I was doing.  It's difficult painting something 10 inches large when my photo of it is only 1".  I just can't see the details I need to!  Here are the pictures I used to paint her foot and hands better as well as a close up the foot as it is right now.  It still needs some work, but it's getting there.

I'll probably get back into the studio Friday.  Tutoring Tues - Thursday as usual.  Also a pleasure!
